Niveau intermédiaire

Some languages see their verbs being put in strange places in a sentence. However there is no difference between French and English.
Nevertheless it's always good to learn it again!

1. In an affirmative sentence:
The verb follows the subject.
Example:
*Le professeur fait une dictée à ses élèves.

2. In a negative sentence:
The verb is put between the two negative words and after the subject.
Example:
*Il n'est pas venu à l'école ce matin.

3. In an interrogative sentence:
The verb is put at the beginning of the sentence.
Example:
*Irons-nous au zoo la semaine prochaine?

4. In an imperative sentence:
This type of sentence is particular since the verb is the sentence in itself.
Example:
*Bois!
*Regarde!

5. In an interro-negative sentence:
In this type of sentence, the verb is put between the negative words and before the subject.
Example:
*Ne seriez-vous pas tombée malade à cause de l'épidémie de grippe?
