The difference between plus/plus

Niveau intermédiaire plus

BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
The difference between “plus” (more) and “plus” (no more) is very thin. Indeed, they are perfect homonyms BUT DO NOT have at all the same meaning. They are the perfect opposites.

In a positive sentence the word “plus” means more.
Example:
J'aimerais plus de café. (I would like more coffee)

In a negative sentence the word “plus” means actually no more.
Example:
Je ne veux plus de café. (I don't want any more coffee)

/!\ Warning: “plus” with a meaning of more is pronounced [plys] (we can hear the -s in the end) while “plus” with a meaning of no more is pronounced [ply] (we do not hear the -s in the end).
