Language-swap is an innovative and effective concept to practice using a language based on the principle of participatory and collaborative e-learning.

Language-swap is a learning method based on the setting-up of contacts between learners so as to enable the exchange of language skills. If, for example, you are a native English-speaker and you wish to practise your French, we put you into contact with French-speaking users who want to practise their English. You can thus choose to swap languages, with 30 minutes in English and 30 minutes in French, on the topic of your choice, as long as you respect other users, our codes of ethics and the way the site functions.

The Linkedin of the e-learning

Language-Swap offers to put language learners through to other learners with similar profiles and with complementary needs, and also insures a free access without time, place or rhythm pressure for a flexible, modulated training, based 100% on practice.

Every student of Law, Finance, Marketing… can find on language-swap.com corresponding students or workers in the same field with whom they can help each other to practice their language competences on their field, in exchange with others.

During the exchange of linguistic competences, which is more than a winner-winner partnership, tandems partners can choose every day a topic of their field of competences (Finance, Marketing, Law…) and exchange on that for boosting their jargon and making their speeches more fluid in the partners’ language.

Concretely, if correspondent students are French speaker or English speaker, they will can discuss during 30 minutes about a subject in English and another 30 minutes about the same subject in French, for example.

The Bla Bla Car of the e-learning

Language-Swap, through the original positioning centred on putting users in contact to others and sharing this way class costs, positions it clearly as the Bla bla Car of e-learning market.

From now on, economies of scale will begin from 50% with class costs sharing. Every user can make even 80% with language class costs sharing with 2, 3, 4 or 5 persons and share lesson costs with them.

For that, it’s enough to choose a class or a class pack for the language level and wait or invite other persons to complete the pack. As soon as the pack is completed (2 persons for the duo packs, for example), people who have done the reservation are informed by e-mail of the possible dates of the running of the classes with one of our social teachers.

Objectives

Our concept is based on the principles of setting up contacts between learners with matching profiles and of providing free access to flexible, modulated training which is 100% based on actual practice, with no constraints in terms of time, pace or place.

For us, it’s all about overcoming the difficulties inherent in conventional forms of language learning by offering an overall digital solution based on online sessions of practical training with native speakers and users with a very high level in a given language, who are eager to share their own language skills in exchange for receiving an equally rewarding input in another language.

With the aim of enabling everyone to take advantage of our simple, agile method of practising a language, we offer two options: the CLASSIC option with limited functionalities or the PREMIUM option which gives you access to the whole range of functions offered by the platform. We charge for the PREMIUM option, to allow us to cover our operating expenses.

The concept is based on the principle of participatory and collaborative e-learning.

It is ‘participatory and collaborative’ because our idea is to set up contacts between learners with matching profiles and the resulting exchange of language skills.

This makes it a new language learning method, which is different from the MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) system and which is nothing like the current conventional, rigid, online language-learning methods. For us it is all about placing the users of our platform in the setting of a cosmopolitan city, and providing them with all the necessary logistics for their training. And always in a fun, relaxed atmosphere!!!

You can form mixed ‘chat’ groups (English-French, for example) or form exchange groups between native speakers of the same language to converse in another language. In this case, it would be better to use the services of one of our social teachers to organize your discussions and raise the level of your language exchanges. Users are offered the possibility of conversing in the vocational skills areas they are interested in (e.g. trade, finance, medicine, tourism, computer science...) and/or their hobbies and personal interests (e.g. music, cinema, sport, ecology, politics...), with the aim of enriching their technical vocabulary and gaining in fluency.

For example, English-speaking medical students could form one or more mixed discussion groups with Hispanic medical students to swap language skills on the medical topics of their choice. They could thus decide to talk about the causes of malaria, for example, for 30 minutes in English and then for 30 minutes in Spanish.

To do this, you simply need to do some research on the chosen topic in the language of your contact and then try to present it to him/her in that language. He/she will thus be able to correct your language mistakes, and pass on to you the correct vocabulary. You can also use the Google translator tab we provide for this purpose.

You should not hesitate to go over the same topic several times so as to enrich your vocabulary and technical expressions.

Participatory and collaborative e-learning: help and be helped, share, inform, learn and teach, meet others simply by using the modern tools offered by the Internet.
